There are a lot of businesses out there that are having to rethink the way that they are doing business. As Americans have been hunkered down to their homes and are in a state of self-isolation to #StayHomeStaySafe, they have lost their connections with the outside world. Businesses are scrambling to figure out ways to continue to service customers in a very non-traditional way. Here at Cinch, we want to help support that as well as we possibly can.

Alternative Servicing Options

Companies are looking to remain open for their bottom line, but more importantly, for their employees and their customers. There are unique strategies that are at work to make it possible.

All restaurants are restricted from dining in and are trying to bring customers food through carryout, delivery, and drive-thru options. Many servers have become delivery drivers, and bellhops have resorted to taking phone orders.

The quick lube industry is working to remain open through scheduling appointments instead of the traditional drive-up option. Also, they have changed to a model to have customers stay in their vehicles while their service is performed.

Yoga and other fitness studios are hosting online, live training sessions through services like Zoom and Google Meeting. Since we are all cooped up in our homes, we need to focus on fitness. It has been 2-3 weeks since these stay at home orders started rolling out in America, how many of us have gained the Quarantine-15? If so, it might be time to contact our local gym and figure out what train at home options they have.

Schools are closed all over the country, and yet, students continue to learn. Using tools like Canvas, Google Sites, and the above-mentioned video meeting tools, they can hold classes and keep students on task. In my household, we have four students that are engaged in learning from the lesson plans prepared by their teachers from their homes.

Working Together For the Economy

Figuring out strategic ways to keep your lights on is the new challenge in today?s economy. The spread of the pandemic has uprooted everyone?s lives for the time being. We are unsure as to how long that this will last, but we cannot let it keep us from pushing our lives and economy forward. This was supposed to be the hottest job market in over 50 years. Our economy was on record pace to start the year. Now everything has changed. How we deal with these challenges will set the pace for the future.

As individuals, we can find ways to support the same businesses that we supported before. We may purchase more stuff online, but make sure to check with your local retailer first to see if they have what you need for delivery or pickup at the store. By putting local first, it will benefit our community and then the society as a whole.

We will get through this. We are not going to face another Great Depression because we have more tools at our disposal. We live in the Gig Economy, and we have the tools and knowledge to solve the most significant challenges. It is time for us to be creative, get off our couches, and think outside the box to keep everyone employed and provided for.
